Meet Fred Flintstone, Interior Decorator 10 09 18

Grizzly and cool. Fred Flintstone's bachelor pad. I don't know how else to describe this furniture. Futuristic, cave-dwelling, fantastical, prehistoric. How the well-to-do in Bedrock decorated. All terms apply. But ... "cool" works best for me.


The difficulty about this sort of style ~ you can't do it only a little bit, can you? I mean, a pretty French chaise there by the window, perhaps a nice minimal Ikea dining set with upholstered covers and then ... one of these pieces? It must be complete. Start to finish. You have to "own" this style. Commit to it.


And what sort of house? Tudor? Half Cape? lol A split level? 

I think furniture like this would affect your outlook, your personality, your very demeanor. I cannot feature Jane Austen lounging here. And you wouldn't find Tim Gunn, either. Well, maybe you would and we just haven't found out about that side of dear Tim yet ... but I am kinda doubting it. Lady GaGa? yes. definitely. But I believe she'd only be using them for their theater effect.


Imagine being invited to dinner and walking in to these. I really wouldn't know how to act. I wonder if my inner-Ayla from Clan of the Cave Bear would emerge? Okay, I'm going to stop right now thinking about that.


Now, would I like to own any of these pieces? Oh yes, without doubt. They'd be a tad difficult to explain to the Bridge Club, though, eh?

Rockin' Finds 10 09 15

This is a beautiful piece of furniture.

If you have a baby or grandbaby on the way, this would be a splendid gift for the Mom-to-be. … or the Grand-mom, for all that serious grandmother-ing you'll soon to be doing!

The “rocker-cradle-chair” is from woodworker and designer, Scott Morrison and is absolutely ingenious, in my estimation, in combining all the necessities and functions of a rocking chair, a cradle, and the task at hand: putting the baby to bed.

Oh, sure, there were nights when the process seemed overly long, but those occasions were mostly due to me being overly tired. I’d’ve loved to have had this beautiful chair ~ a place for the quiet time, the unwinding, the peace that comes with a quiet ending to the day.

Bright, Fresh, Inspiring ~ Home!

Freshome seems to have me pretty well tagged. 


Begin with a clean, fresh, bright backdrop and then have fun with color. Change the look at your whim. Change the colors with the season ... or *against* the season.

The 'KISS' philosophy works in decorating, too. Or, at least, it works for me.

Yes: I could live here. It wouldn’t look nice, neat (and white) like this for very long, but I’d have fun decorating and I love love love the space and light!

And, if truth be told, there is only one thing I would immediately change: those woven straw circle rugs outside and in the bedroom have gotta go. They may look pretty (which they do), but I'm a sock-wearing klutz and I'd be slipping flat on my keyster every time.
